Insurance reimbursements

A common question I often receive, is whether or not Medical Message Clinic accepts insurance?

We do not accept insurance, however, we do offer what is called a "superbill." As part of the process, the client will pay Medical Message Clinic and we will give them the bill or the client is eligible to receive reimbursements. A superbill is a receipt with medical codes for massage, as well as all the clinic codes that the insurance needs to reimburse the client.

If massage is NOT officially covered by insurance, you might still be able to get reimbursed by doing the following:

Get your Primary Care Physician to write you a prescription or referral for manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, and therapeutic exercises. The prescription must include a diagnosis code, that medical massage is medically necessary and how many or how often the client is prescribed to come in for treatment.

When the patient obtains the prescription, he can send it together with my superbills to the claims department to get reimbursed. If the insurance refuses, the client is encouraged to go into rebuttal because massage therapists are allowed to bill those codes that are usually used by physical therapists.

FSA/HSA

Medical Massage Clinic does accept accepting health savings account (HSA) cards or the client is eligible to receive reimbursements from their provider by sending the account provider a superbill.
